If we do not hang together we shall surely all hang separately.

On September 1st, 1978 a reign of terror descended on the little town of Speedway, Indiana.  On that night three bombs exploded.  The bombs had been placed in garbage receptacles and harmed no one but as the week went on more bombs exploded.  Finally on the sixth night of terror a the father of a high school student noticed a Speedway High School gym bag left in the parking lot of the school just prior to a football game.  He picked it up and it exploded.  Carl DeLong, 39, lost his right leg due to the explosion and his left leg was severely damaged.

The investigation eventually led to Brett C. Kimberlin, the proprietor of  a vegetarian restaurant in Broad Ripple, IN.  He was picked out of a photo lineup by a hardware store clerk where one of the timers was bought.  During this investigation the manager of a Westside print shop noticed a man trying to reproduce military IDs.  When this man was questioned by police he was wearing a Department of Defense insignia.  The wearing of this insignia by non-DoD personnel is a crime.  The man was Brett Kimberlin.

This gave the police the evidence they needed to obtain a search warrant.  A search of Kimberlin's car turned up evidence of Tovex, the explosive used in the bombs.  Other criminal activity by Kimberlin kept the authorities busy trying to obtain more evidence of wrongdoing but when those efforts failed, Kimberlin was tried and convicted of the wearing of the DoD insignia for which he got 12 years in prison.

While he was serving that time the bombing case continued on and on Oct. 15, 1981 he was convicted and sentenced to 50 years in prison.  The alleged motive for the string of bombings was to distract the police from investigating the murder of the parent of a girl in Speedway.

Sandra Barton had worked for Brett Kimberlin.  She and her mother had clashed about Sandra's involvement with Kimberlin and the mother, Julia Scyphers, had recently arranged for Sandra's young children to come live with her.  On July 29, 1978, Julia Scyphers was shot in the head and killed.  Kimberlin was never charged either with the murder or with the rumored impropriety with Barton's young children but the questioning and investigation around the incident are said to be the motive for the bombings.

During the three years of investigation and trials Carl DeLong's physical condition worsened.  On Feb. 23, 1983, he closed his garage door and sat in his van with the engine running. Later that year, DeLong's wife, Sandra (who had also been injured in the bombing), won a $1.6 million judgment against Kimberlin in civil court.

Kimberlin was paroled in 1994 after serving about 13 years of his 50-year sentence. But when he made no effort to pay the DeLong judgment his parole was revoked in 1997 and he went back to prison for about four more years, released again in 2001.

So what, right?

Most criminals either go back into their previous criminal behavior, straighten up and become productive citizens or get re-elected.  Brett Kimberlin is another kind of animal.  He turned to left-wing activism.  In this he and Bill Ayers also have much in common.

Since his release from prison Brett Kimberlin has received $70,000 from George Soros' Tides Foundation, $10,000 from Barbra Streisand and $20,000 from Teresa Heinz Kerry.

Brett Kimberlin is involved in and founded Justice Through Music, an activist site billing itself as “Music. Politics. Activism.” He has also been involved in a group called the Velvet Revolution. Back in 2010, the Velvet Revolution spearheaded an effort to have Andrew Breitbart, Hannah Giles, and James O’Keefe prosecuted for their investigative work around ACORN.

He may have cost one couple their jobs and forced a family out of their home.  He has friends capable of and willing to get his entry removed from Wikipedia.

He has been involved in a number of legal cases (a quick search of Google Scholar will turn them up) many of them being described as nuisance suits sometimes known as Lawfare.

Compared to this guy, Nixon's plumbers were a joke.  They never maimed anyone.  Brett Kimberlin is a convicted terrorist and the left holds him as their darling.

Why is that?  What kind of people associate with people like Kimberlin?

And why isn't the media talking about it?

Andrew Breitbart. Commentator, patriot, true seeker, master of the new media. The world is a lesser place without him in it.

Requiescat In Pace, Mr. Breitbart
